On May 13, 2005, the Department of Defense proposed merging the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. with the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland as part of a Base Closure and Realignment announcement. The final merger of the two facilities is set to coincide with the closing of the original Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital in September 2011.
Willow Design was an SDVOSB subcontractor to HKS Architects on this project in Bethesda. Our scope was to provide architectural design services to approximately 22,000 sq ft on the third floor in the existing Building 9. More specifically, they called for light, moderate and heavy renovations to the Pain Clinic, Pain Block, APU Check-In Center, Stone Center and PEDS Sedation areas of that floor. In addition, Willow provided MEP, Fire Protection and Structural coordination, ADA accessibility review and CD’s for the approved drawings.
